How about cement in a pie plate or simple wooden mold and a chop
stick or knitting needle. Designs could be incised or objects
imbedded into the cement to spiff them up. I'm thinking along the
lines of the garden stepping stones that I see kits for in the craft
stores. Something like a plastic chop stick or aluminum knitting
needle could be easily inserted, removed, replaced. You can also add
pigments to the cement to make it look more like clay or brick.
