My favourite trick with infrared camera exhibits is to hold my hand against 
a magazine, folded newspaper, briefcase etc for several seconds, then hold 
the glowing 'heat-print' up to the camera. I enjoy seeing other people 
repeating the experiment long after I've walked away. It would be worth 
designing a suitable surface into the exhibit.

So, if you're a small mammal being stalked by a pit-viper, remember that 
your footprints also glow in the dark...
