Subject:
Catalogue Number Confusion

Hello all, I wondered if anyone could help with an awkward problem I am
facing. Here in India classical CDs are not easily available, so I either
have to order them or ask relatives visiting the west to get them for me.
In either case it is very important that I know the exact catalogue no.
and the number of CDs in the set.

The problem is that the catalogue no. appears to be different in
different places. The 'Grammophone' listings or the classical.net
recommendations, for example, have a catlogue no. but the various net
stores like Amazon.com and Music Boulevard seem to be using something
entirely different. How can I look up the contents of a set from one
of these sites once I have the catalogue no. from Grammophone?

In the meantime I'm trying to get the following set. So could anyone tell
me how many CDs it has. BTW, is it possible to tell the number of CDs in
a set from its catalogue no?

Copland: Appalachian Spring & Symphony No. 3
        Copland/London SO
        Sony: SM3K46559

Many thanks,
Anupam.
