As I remember, the high school students actually doing the field and lab 
work were told that all bee eggs hatch in three days, so some combs were 
not completely egg-free when hived to test for laying workers. Our 
suggestions to their supervisors on this subject were not welcomed. Oh, 
well, such is the research game.
