Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd" (and let's not even start about "if" it's
an opera - sure it is... unless you cast Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham
Carter in it), in the John Doyle production, is coming to San Francisco
to open the American Conservatory Theater 2007-'08 season, in Geary
Theater, Aug. 30 - Sept. 30.
The touring production is by the same design team as on Broadway: Doyle
is director, scenic and costume designer, working with with lighting
designer Richard Jones, sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, and orchestrator
and music supervisor Sarah Travis.
Dreamworks begins filming "Sweeney Todd" next month, directed by Tim
Burton, and starring, yes, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
