Use caution in following those procedures. They will not insure that you are
in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Non-compliance can be
expensive. The Knox County Schools had a proposed fine of $7,000,000 for violation of
EPA hazardous waste regulations.
Pouring chemicals down the drain or evaporating them in a fume hood can
result in significant fines.
The best book available today on this subject is "Hazardous Waste Management:
A Guidebook." It was published and distributed by the American Chemical
Society, then Oxford Press, and now from the Laboratory Safety Institute. ...
