I have two green buildings for you to look into.

First: The Environmental Studies Center at Oberlin College in Oberlin
Ohio. It is a green building, it uses a living machine for wastewater
and recycled/sustainable materials in the construction. Their
programming is college level stuff, but may be useful nonetheless.
Professor David Orr was instrumental in bringing it about- if you can
find his contact information, he would be a good resource.

Second: The Anita B Gorman Discovery Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
This was a project of the Missouri Dept. of Conservation. The building
uses a living machine, recycled materials, passive and active solar
energy, etc. It is landscaped with Native Plants and they offer
workshops for adults and children on native gardening. It is unique in
its emphasis on wildlife within the urban core. Their main programming
is focused on children and youth. They have several programs they offer:
watershed studies, ethical hunting/fishing (they are the conservation
department, after all), identifying wild birds, outdoor skills (hiking,
camping, etc), native gardening, and nature-based art. They also do
weekend programs for scouts and families. I volunteered for them for a
while and found their programs to be excellent. They can be found on
the web at http://mdc.mo.gov/areas/kcmetro/discovery

They are also one of the partners in Kansas City, Missouri's 1000 Rain
Gardens initiative, which is working to reduce storm water run off. The
website for the rain gardens is www.rainkc.com This information might
be helpful, as well.
