Thanh-Tam Le deserves an A+ for his long list of candidates. Thanks.

I want to second Dave Lampson's mention of George Rochberg's 'Caprice
Variations', a fascinating hour-long set of variations based on THAT
caprice by Paganini.  I recall my jaw dropping when I heard Zvi Zeitlin's
recording of thirty years ago.  It is, IMHO, a masterpiece and a recording
worth looking for.
