I have posted photos on Archaeoseek of a circular structure found about 100 meters from a mid-nineteenth century evaporative salt works on the Texas coast near what used to be the town of Lamar. Any ideas on the function of the structure would be most appreciated. The structure is made of shellcrete/tabby blocks, and bits of what appears to be a sandy plaster with a black coating were found around the structure, mostly on the exterior. Also found in association with the structure were thin, flat pieces of metal.
Thanks,
