List Mahlerians, (and anyone else), how's the new Ivan Fischer Mahler
2nd? Many reviewers consider it the "best ever," so it must be horrible.:)
I must thank our resident Mahlerians for their enthusiasm over Horenstein's
Mahler 3rd: I just listened to it recently for the first time, and after
Haitink, Sinopoli, Solti, Tennstedt, etc., I've never heard a more
coherent first mov't, not only that, I love the imaginative and colorful
the woodwind playing and the unapologetic "dirty" textures here and
there. The woodwinds steal the show in the second mov't as well; my
mind tends to wander at this point with other performances.
