Someone on the list recently said that the Summary of the Hazards of
Infant Formula is a "must-read" for all LCs. I just ordered it from
ILCA, and I enthusiastically second that recommendation. I plan to
re-read it frequently lest I ever fall into the trap of thinking that a
little formula does not have profound consequences for infant health.
I also plan to share it with prenatal breastfeeding class attendees,
because parents deserve to have this information before they let a drop
of a breastmilk substitute touch their baby unnecessarily.
These monographs probably represent many, many hours of hard work, and
they are very inexpensive (I think under $10 for all 3). I have no
financial interest in this product, and I urge everyone to get it.
Sincerely,
Lynnette Hafken, MA, LLLL, IBCLC
