Would the bees tend to propolize the angles where the
side corners of the bars meet?

I took a bar out of my TBH and eased the rest a smidgeon apart to take up
the slack. A couple of weeks later I was able to take a small harvest of fresh
propolis. The angles Robin proposes might be a good way of getting it as
well.
