Patricia, I just had another thought for your floor surface. You can rough
up concrete in a number of ways that make it non-skid, and that means no
coating to have to reapply. There are ways to print patterns in it, you can
apply a topcoat with a "broom finish," and the only real cleaning is to hose
it down. If it's possible in your area, have the concrete slope to a drain,
so you don't have to lift out any grille.
It may not be a feasible solution for your renewing an existing area, but it
certainly works well for new areas.
