Bilingual Science/Health Outreach Educator Position Listing
The Self-Reliance Foundation seeks a full-time science and health outreach
educator to be a key staff member in SRF's Conociendo Tu Cuerpo/Know Your Body
health science outreach project, that is funded by a grant from the National
Institutes of Health-Science Education Partnership Awards Program. The project
is open to all, but has a primary mission of increasing the involvement of
Latino students and families in informal science activities.
The Educator will help design and deliver interactive outreach exhibits,
shows, and activities for schools and afterschool programs. In addition, the
Educator can also be involved in the design of website content and other media
(educational radio capsules and newspaper supplements).
Applicants should be bilingual (Spanish/English), have a bachelor's degree in
biology or a related field of science, public health, education, or a related
field, and be ready/flexible to do a wide variety of work, from putting up
tents, tables, and exhibits to putting on interactive "shows" in front of school
classes or the general public at festivals.
