Then again, I have always read the reserves were exhausted during WW I and
by 1920 experimentation in flux technology left manganese out of the industry.
I really do not think anyone cared until the old glass aged sufficiently to
turn that pretty amethyst color and collectors began putting bottles in their
windows in the 1950s.
