Dear listmembers,
The Montclair State University Department of Anthropology intends to
appoint an Associate Professor of Archaeology to begin September 1,
2006. Montclair State University is located in suburban New Jersey 12
miles west of Midtown Manhattan.
We are looking for an experienced New World archaeologist with strong
interdisciplinary perspectives and record of incorporating theory into
fieldwork, teaching, and practice. Demonstrated excellence in teaching
core, undergraduate and graduate courses in the classroom and the
field. Expertise in North American Archaeology with secondary areas in
one of the following desirable: the archaeology of the Northeastern
U.S., CRM/Public Archeology; archaeological theory. Will work closely
with the University's Center for Archaeological Studies with the
potential to take a leadership role in the Center in the future. Ability
to work collaboratively with related on- and off-campus programs.
Candidates are expected to participate in curriculum development and
review.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field. Minimum 5 years
of full-time teaching experience, substantial publication record, active
leadership in project development and obtaining funding, ongoing
research agenda. Faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level.
Salary commensurate with qualifications.
