Yeah, well, the native Spanish speaker I consulted AND the internet
dictionary both had vela (or bujia) for candle...ONLY....but, when I
checked several hardcopy dictionaries...2 had candela as candle.
But...the Oxford Dic. only has 'vela'... So obviously, as with
English...things vary.

So SORRY...I was wrong...but was trusting a native speaker (of Spanish,
not Mexican - so don't know if that makes any difference).  Candela was
'fire' or 'spark' in the Oxford...no mention of candle.  Yet candelero
is a candlestick...
