I only boarded one lifeboat...or should I say my wife ordered me to get in
it. It's bad enough to get a hundred or so off-topic messages at work but
to have to look at them again at home is too much. Then add in any other
specialized-local archaeology lists or related topics and it can drive you
nuts. Don't even think about going on vacation for a week. The mountain of
emails is crazy and if you have a dial up connection forget it! Even at
work with a DSL, the time it takes to go through them after being in the
field for a week can be staggering.
