It is of more than passing interest that Africanized honey
bees in Arizona have in fact been determined to have a
higher degree of thelytoky than their European sisters.
This suggests a biological reason for requeening failures
sometimes reported by beekeepers trying to introduce
European stock into tropical America. For more, see the
review of the 2001 Apimondia Congress in South
Africa: http://www.squidoo.com/beekeeping_associations/

Especially when the trait was noted here prior to, along
with smaller cell size in most of all southern Arizona as
we took the whole local club with us, not that most all now
from 125 bearly number even 9 anymore due to politics of
the game.
For you too Malcolm to refresh your memory of family doings
Ed and I freely shared to help not hurt industry. Traits
that are found in many races/strains besides Capenis FWIW,
but who cares for reality checks anymore!:
