I believe it was the northern wall of the building, so the wall received no
direct sunlight.  I observed that some of the comb was new and some older.
I do not know the age of the colonies, but was told that bees had been
occupying the structure for years.

We saw some evidence of past wax moth damage.  It is likely that several
successive colonies of bees had used the space.  I couldn't venture a guess
as to how long these particular colonies had been in that location.
