Depends what you are using it for.
Personally I have found the Garmin eTrex a useful little unit for recording
points (i.e. sites) and also for tracking where I went on surveys.
I think the car GPS’s pointless, what’s wrong with maps and street
directories? At least they don’t talk to you.
I am looking for something like a PDA with GPS and Camera so I can record
where I took a photo from and record the site on a simple database. That
would save a lot of time and reduce transcription and memory errors. I have
seen PDA’s with GPS’s and phones but who wants a phone while in the field?
