Steelies are ball bearings. There was a rule among my childhood friends  that 
who ever yelled first set the rule on steelies. If I yelled, "no steelies,"  
then that was the rule. If I yelled, "steelies!" it meant our glass target  
marbles stood a good chance of being damaged or cracked in half.
