Dear HISTARCHers, I am posting this on behalf of colleagues at the
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Contact information can be
found further down in the announcement. Julie King

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) is pleased to
announce that it is now recruiting for five new positions: an Assistant
Director for Federal Property Management and four Historic Preservation
Specialists. These positions will be located within the Office of
Federal Agency Programs (OFAP). This office conducts Section 106
reviews, provides technical assistance and guidance for Section 106
users, and works to improve Federal agency and stakeholder understanding
of Section 106. Among its other services, OFAP is responsible for
developing a Report to the President under Executive Order 13287,
Preserve America, on the state of Federal stewardship, and it also
administers the ACHP's two-day training course, The Section 106
Essentials. Recently, OFAP has realigned its organization to reflect
changing responsibilities which necessitated closure of its field office
in Denver and the consolidation of operations within its headquarters
office located in Washington, D.C.

In filling these positions, the ACHP will seek to find the best
qualified candidates. Special consideration will be given to candidates
that have knowledge in historic and cultural properties within the
western United States and experience in handling historic preservation
issues in the West.

The ACHP is an independent Federal agency that provides a public forum
to influence Federal policy, programs, and activities that affect
historic resources nationwide. The ACHP promotes the preservation,
enhancement, and productive use of our Nation's historic resources, and
advises the President and Congress on national historic preservation
policy. The ACHP was established by the National Historic Preservation
Act, which entrusts to the ACHP the unique mission of advancing historic
preservation within the Federal Government and the national historic
preservation program.

Vacancy announcements and position descriptions can be found on our web
site at www.achp.gov <http://www.achp.gov/> . The closing date is
October 11, 2005. Please contact Don Klima, Director, OFAP, at (202)
606-8503 or via eMail at [log in to unmask] Please feel free to distribute
to your membership or post on your website.

Thank you,
