A newest addition to my SACD disks is going to be Mozart's Requiem [Hybrid
SACD) with CD-ROM track of Mozart's Original Manuscript] with Nikolaus
Harnoncourt Christine Schafer, Bernarda Fink, et al.and Concentus Musicus
Wien, with Arnold Schoenberg Choir which I have pre-ordered from Amazon
(it is going to be issued on 10, August hopefully).
Although the previous recording of this masterpiece by Harnoncourt
disappointed many, this new recording earned editorial superlatives.
Although I have 2 other versions of Mozart's Requiem, with Daniel
Barenboim, and the other one with Marriner (both outstanding performances),
I could not resist ordering the new Harnoncourt.
Incidentally, being a great admirer of Bach's piano partitas and suites
(English and French) I expect to receive with the same shipment the Glenn
Gould Edition - Bach: Partitas, Preludes & Fugues and Bach's Solo Partitas
with Igor Kipnis (harpsichord) (a real bargain price $6.98 each disk).
I already have those masterpieces performed by Schiff and Rubsam (both
reviewed by Don 2 or 3 years ago) and I anticipate many hours of enjoyment
listening and comparing.
