You are not trying to identify the pollen just to see if it is pollen, soak
the pollen in water to allow it to swell, Mount in stained glycerine jelly
(if you have that, if not immerse the pollen in 50% glycerine/water cover
with a cover glass and look even at X40 you will see some structure and X100
will obviously show you more.
Try your secondary school for the microscope if you have to.
