Of course the dark side of landscape post 1945 is the blood and soil
thing. Where does reasonable local and national identity turn into
xenophobia, fascism and racism. As I now need some sleep I always think
the nice side of landscape is is Le terroir- the idea that every French
district or even field will produce a different wine -sometimes **** but
more interesting than standardised industrial products.
