New IEEE Award for Informal Education
The Educational Activities Board (EAB) of the Institute for Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has added an eighth category to its annual
Education Awards. This November, IEEE-EAB will present its first Meritorious
Achievement Award in Informal Education, honoring an IEEE member who
volunteers his or her time and expertise to help families, school groups,
and curious people of all ages learn more about science and technology. The
award, which carries a cash prize of $1,000, was prompted by IEEE's
participation in the VolTS project, a partnership among the New York Hall of
Science, ASTC, IEEE, the National Science Digital Library, and IBM. To
nominate an IEEE member who volunteers in your institution, visit
