Interested in helping out with a fun, interactive ASTC workshop?

We need a few brave souls to help us with the 2005 ASTC Session:
"Desperate Deadline: Bringing Current Research to Visitors Faster than
You Ever Thought Possible" to be held Sunday, October 16 from 2:00-3:15
as part of the ASTC annual meeting.

What we need:
- Several teams of 1 to 2 people who will go from dry science report to
creative science center output in one hour!

As these "contestants" labor in the background, panelists will talk
with the audience about issues that staff face when covering current
science, relate perspectives from journalism and science education, and
share studies of how the public views science. After the hour is up,
the contestants will present their work, and the audience will vote.
The session will be moderated by those crazy folks at The Why Files.

-All materials from which content will come will be supplied during the
session, but teams must bring their own laptop for producing digital
output (the form of that electronic output (graphics, webpage,
powerpoint, etc.) is up to you!). No experience with covering current
science is necessary.

If you're willing to give it a go, please email Tinsley Davis
([log in to unmask]) by October 1, 2005.

Thank you!
