ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
Celebra la Ciencia is a media/community outreach project developed by the
Self-Reliance Foundation with a mission of increasing the involvement of Latino
families and students in informal science, ranging from science centers/zoos
etc to community science workshops/citizen science. We are currently active
in a number of communities across the country. The project has been funded
by NSF and NIH-SEPA. (Project website: _www.celebralaciencia.org_
(http://www.celebralaciencia.org) )
I would enjoy meeting with anyone who would like to hear more about the
project and consider collaborating on some of our upcoming efforts, which include:
1. A national conference bringing together educators, media producers, and
others who have an interest in informal science targeting Latinos.
2. Mobile bilingual exhibits on science, health, or science careers.
3. Using media.
4. Becoming a partner in SRF's Family Science Page/Pagina Familiar de la
Ciencia (have your own weekly or monthly family science page in your own
community's Spanish language newspaper).
I will be at ASTC Sunday Oct. 29 through Tuesday Oct. 31. You can reach me
at the conference via my cell phone, 202-997-5539.
Thanks.
