I am writing a funding proposal and would appreciate some (hard facts)
references for the "NEEDS" section...(i.e.. need for families learning
science and school programs (in museums). The proposal is for developing
family programs & interactive components & school curriculum for simple
machines (plus motion, forces, etc.) in Calder toy exhibition.

So far  I have :

Family Programs & the General Visitor

*
	Quote that majority of scientists did not get turned on to
science in school.(recent ISEN email...can anyone send that to me
again??)
*
	Value of science literacy for the general public. (NEED SOURCE.)
*
	Families learning together...learning basic scientific concepts
together. (NEED SOURCE.)

Simple machines curriculum for school visits to museum:

*
	 Science being squeezed out of regular classroom instruction as
teachers and school administrators strive to comply with No Child left
Behind legislation. (NY Times Article,
*
	 Museums as alternative learning environments that appeal to
diverse learning styles and use authentic objects as launching points
for educational experience. (NEED SOURCE.)
