Roger Hecht:

While I find the Vienna to be a great orchestra, their lack of a
permanent music director makes them lack a consistent, unified sound.
I would vote for the Berlin Philharmonic, followed closely by the
Philadelphia Orchestra, who despite recent leadership, still maintain
the magnificence that was bestowed upon them by Ormandy and Stokowski.
