> Does anybody else know any other Beekeepers Secrets?

Many years ago, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes
stories, was visiting a queen breeder call Mervyn Jones at Redbank Plains
here in Queensland. A swarm took off from a nuc while they were in the
yard. Sir Arthur asked what he would do with the swarm. Meryvn said watch
and commenced to whistle. The swarm turned around and came back to the
hive. Sir Arthur was amazed. What Sir Arthur did not know that the queen
was a breeder queen and was clipped. So she could not issue forth with the
swarm and the bees came back because the queen was not with them.
