ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Dear Colleagues,
The Hall of Health has just started selling memberships. How does the
accountant at your museum handle income from memberships? The
Children's Hospital Oakland (our parent organization) controller has
suggested spreading each membership payment over 12 months, rather than
having it show up on our financial statements as a single payment the
month it is received. This seems cumbersome to me, and I fear that it
will quickly get confusing. It will be helpful to know what other
science museums do.
Thank you,
Lucy Day
