ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

The Self-Reliance Foundation is a non-profit based in Washington, DC, that
has organized a project, Celebra la Ciencia, that combines the use of
Spanish-language media (radio, newspapers) with community family science events to
engage Latino students and families in science. Activities are provided by local
science/children's museums and community organizations. The project is
currently active in Los Angeles, Chicago, Albuquerque, Washington State, and
Washington, DC.
We are seeking 2-3 paid Student Science Fellows (undergraduate or graduate
students) who can help design and deliver some of the workshops and events in
Washington, DC. For summers, the work can be up to 30 hours/week, PAID. During
the academic year, 10-20 hours/week, PAID. There is a possibility of
continuing a summer internships into the fall. Some of the work activities can be
tailored around a student's academic program.
In Washington, DC, you would work with collaborating organizations such as
the Latin American Youth Center, the Columbia Heights Science Workshop/National
Zoo, Smithsonian Museums of Natural History & American History, National
Aquarium, Discovery Creek Children's Museum, and the Science Museum of Virginia
(all collaborators for our local Celebra la Ciencia activities).
