As I recall, which you may know already, that the Moore Cabin, in
Skagway ("home of the 'north' or 'cruel' wind" depending on the
translation from Tlingit I believe) is "papered" on the interior with
printed materials, mostly scientific as I recall, dome from as far
away as Australia, I think (1980 and a lot of volcanic ash coming and
going on a bus may have "clouded" that memory).
I once encountered some printed newspaper artifacts under the
"Ironmaster's House" porch while working in the archaeology of the
Hopewell Village Foundry for the NPS Denver Service Center in 1978.
I'm not sure what they did I think from the 1930s. The testing there
was trying to confirm, corroborate or negate the story that an earlier
structure may have been below the 1840s construction, the earlier
settlement important to the history of nearby Valley Forge in the
American Revolution. I also worked on a small excavation unit in the
basement, where a piano was also stored, when the head flew off the
sledge flew off and sailed thankfully by the instrument. YCC equipment
needs to be checked!
