On December 1 we will begin review of applications for the following
position:

 

Position: Public Archaeologist (Position 116750), Florida Public
Archaeology Network, University of West Florida
Location: Pensacola, FL 

We are seeking candidates for the position of Public Archaeologist in
the University of West Florida's Coordinating Center of the Florida
Public Archaeology Network located in downtown Pensacola, Florida. The
Public Archaeologist will focus on Northwest Florida and will provide
public outreach, assistance to local governments, and assistance to the
Florida Division of Historical Resources in its archaeological
responsibilities. The position does not involve fieldwork related to
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. 

Candidates should have at least the M.A. in anthropology with
specialization in archaeology and demonstrated experience in public
archaeology. They should be adept at public speaking, write easily and
well for public and professional audiences, be well versed in
archaeological field methods, and have supervisory experience.
Experience supervising volunteers is desirable. This position will be an
important first point of contact for the public and as such the
individual in this position must be, or easily become, an expert on the
prehistoric and historical archaeology of Northwest Florida. We are
seeking someone with strong skills in terrestrial archaeology, but
experience working in underwater settings is also desirable.
