It didn;t take the interesting story on Barenboim on 60 minutes to
convince me that Barenboim is one of the ultimate geniuses of this
generation of musicians. He was a child prodigy who started playing
at the age of six and gave his first concerts at the age of eight. He
is a world famous pianist who has an astounding repertoire: Every Mozart
Concerto, Beethoven, Chopin and much much more including Chamber Music with
Du Pre, Zuckermman, Stern and the gang. You always dicover new repertoire
for example I bought his Brahms lieder with Norman. He is the general
conducter of the Chicago Symphony one of the best orchestras around. One
amazing thing: As a Jew, he is conducting the Wagner Festival at Bayreuth
which is suprising do to the fact that Wagner was a known antisemist and
that that festival took place during Hitler's reign over Germany.
