Wow, flash from the past. Thanks for the mention, Ann. I had
forgotten writing that fictionalized account back in 1996. It is
spooky to be reading something from out on the Web that dates back
now 10 years. But I can assure you the Block store ads are true
stuff. I was going to mention that as a footnote in the thread on
"queensware as generic" but hadn't gotten around to it. There are
other Washington Telegraph ads later in the 1840s that also use the term.
