Dante,
With a place with as much wherewithal as COSI Toledo I am a bit
surprised that you need ANY of our help. But I'll take a stab.
You don't mention how big a tank you are using. Is it sort of a standard
20 gallon job? Since it's breaking, I'm guessing it's glass? Why is it
breaking - thermal shock or just old fashion bangs and crashes? You
could look for Acrylic aquariums. That might save you quite a few breaks
from bangs and crashes. You could ask a plastic shop to make you an
Acrylic tank. It is surprisingly inexpensive to have these things built
- though more than buying 4 or 5 replacement tanks I'm guessing. You
could get a hunk of Acrylic tube for a hefty price. With a sealed
bottom it would be pretty tough. You could got to a glass shop and get
5 panels of tempered glass to make your own tank....
You did mention a few benefits of the tank you're using, one important
one being - it is an easy to obtain, off the shelf item.
Let us know what you wind up doing - though I suspect for tomorrow
morning it will be back to the pet shop one more time.
