Hi, Beryl. Gyroscope completed a study last year for the Science
Museum of Virginia on new uses of electronic technologies in museums,
with several case studies that might be of interest to you. The
report, Museums in Transition, is available on our website, in the
recent news box at the right, at www.gyroscopeinc.com.

> Hi all,
> I am working on a November presentation to National Park Service
> interpretors on the various kinds of "tour" or "interpretive"
> technologies available for use in museums, historic sites, etc.
> They are particularly interested in knowing more about handheld
> devices, virtual tours/visits, etc. There is some concern that if
> they implement such devices, they will not need rangers. This is
> not unlike the concern raised several years ago in the museum
> community about how virtual visits would result in fewer live
> visits. I will be calming fears, and will be speaking about these
> as opportunities for providing richer visitor experiences.
>
> To that end, I need some help from you all - I need photos of the
> devices, and url's for those of you who do virtual tours/virtual
> visits (I want to show you off). Do any of you have such images?
> Several years ago, a number of us attended a RAP session at Liberty
> on the subject, and there were about 50 participants (you know who
> you are!)
> Oh, and if you are doing something interesting with exhibit
> interfaces, please let me know as well.
> Thank you all!
