ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

If I'm remembering correctly, when the ASTC conference was in San Jose
there was a reading exhibit done by Zerox/Parc that had a neat way of
doing a timeline. It was a flatscreen monitor visitors could slide
along a rack geared track. The images would change with the location
of the monitor sliding across the timeline. It's a nice amount of
visitor control, very enticing to get across whatever it is you want to
present. I talked to someone there who helped build it. They said the
biggest technical challenge was a dampening system so the teenagers
among us didn't wind up and slam it into the end.
