Amazon alterted me to this new release:
"Sensemaya--Music of Silvestre Revueltas" Los Angeles Philharmonic;
Esa-Pekka Salonen, conductor
The compositions of Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas are anything
but predictable. Sounding like something of a south-of-the-border
Charles Ives, his works are filled with mariachi interludes, folk
motifs, and the occasional brass band. Esa-Pekka Salonen and the
Los Angeles Phil do a fine job performing these crazed works and
highlighting the composer's wild but always effective musical output.
As one who loves Mexican music, I'm intrigued. Has anybody heard any of
Revueltas's music? Reactions?
Yours,
David Cozy
