It is well recorded but there is a degree of mastertape hiss.  Maybe Decca
will remaster it as they are currently doing for the Solti releases (the
remastered Elektra is spellbinding)

Go for the Hickox.  A SUPERB recording and performance with the Ballad of
Heroes as an impressive coupling PLUS Sinfonia da Requiem.  Truly value
for money.  Do look at the Britten pages on my site
