I worked on a project along these lines at the Philadelphia Zoo and also at
the Morris Arboretum (also in Philadelphia).  The Zoo's program related to
family learning; Kathy Wagner at the Zoo would be a good contact.  The Arboretum's
program related to medicinal plants -- I'm not sure who's in charge of
