For those in the Washington, DC area:
On the 50th anniversary of Glenn Gould's US debut at The
Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, AFI Silver Theatre
(http://www.afi.com/silver/new/) celebrates the legendary Canadian
pianist-legendary for both his artistry and his singularity with three
penetrating documentaries, personal and professional:
GLENN GOULD: OFF THE RECORD and GLENN GOULD: ON THE RECORD,
(directed by World Koeng and Roman Kroitor, 29min. each);
and from the LIFE & TIMES series GLENN GOULD: THE HIDDEN GENIUS
(directed by David Langer, 50 min).
Washington Post music critic Tim Page will introduce the January 2
Celebration and lead a post-screening discussion. Schedule permitting,
Tim Page may also appear for the January 3 screening. Playing at AFI
Silver Theatre on January 2 and 3.
