One of my favourite pieces of music is Rimsky Korsakov's Sheherazade.
My first contact with this piece was through a recording that my father
had, a very good recording (at least to my adolescent ears). The LP cover
showed a little man (the Sultan) with his arms raised pointing to a girl
(Scheherazade) who was flying in a disc or in a flying carpet (I don't
remember). Since I've started collecting classical music records, I've
never managed to purchase the same LP or its CD incarnation. The problem
is that I don't remember who was the conductor, the orchesta or even the
label, and my father lost the old LP. Does anybody know of which recording
I'm talking about? I suspect that it was Sir Thomas Beecham recording for
EMI. Thank you all for any help.
