Regarding Perfect Pitch, To the outsider, perfect pitch can seem to be a
blessing. As a teacher I occasionally have a student with perfect pitch.
Not a happy camper. You can imagine his or her dismay each time a musical
note is heard! One person in particular was an excellent musician, now
working in the field, has a soul and expresses it through the piano and
voice. However growing up, I knew someone else who had perfect pitch. The
playing was technically perfect, but sterile. One can never tell. I have
good relative pitch. Once I hear the pitch, like Bob, it stays with me.
Having relative pitch is probably better when you are dealing with all
kinds of musicians in a school situation, but also with the synthesizers,
digital reverb, detuning, and all those other fun things.
Keep the feeling
