(Since it was mentioned in the thread on Paul Creston, and since Martinu,
Schulhoff, Piston, and Vagn Holmboe have, like Lees, written quartet &
orchestra concerti (Piston's is with wind, Holmboe's is with strings)-
Spohr's has been on a Koch CD and on a rather more recent (.very. recent)
Arabesque CD. The Koch Schwann was coupled with other Spohr works. The
Arabesque is coupled with Schoenberg's string-quartet-concerto arrangement
of a Handel concerto grosso and with other works.
(Wonder why no one else mentioned the Holmboe- maybe because it was written
around 1996, hence after the Lees? It was basically his next-to-last work,
far as I know- the last being his 21st quartet, completed by Norgard.)
