In many cases the composer has directed that there be no pause between
movements by writing "attacca" at the end of a movement. I haven't noticed
instances of undue haste otherwise. I agree that there could be a few more
seconds between some works on discs. I like it when there is advance
warning with a "minus" countdown to the next band.
