With the 250th anniversary of Bach's death coming up, record companies
will be gearing up, repackaging, and providing large sets of his works.
One project that looks very enticing involves Gardiner and DG's Archiv
label. Gardiner will be recording all of Bach's sacred cantatas on the
applicable Sunday of the liturgical year at different churches in England.
This is history in the making, and Gardiner is an excellent choice based
on the Bach recordings he has already made.
The only concern I have is that Archiv is reported to no longer distribute
in the U.S. Perhaps they will make an exception for this huge project.
